Champions League predictions Wed 7 December
December 7, 2011
Taking a look at tonight’s games where both Manchester teams are in trouble and both might miss the playoffs. United should go through but City look destined for Europa League…
Basel v Manchester United Live on ITV1
Manchester United have made surprisingly hard work of a weak looking group and still need a point to guarantee their passage into the knockout stages. They look unlikely to qualify as group winners irrespective of Wednesday’s result and may face a difficult draw in the next round should they progress. I expect United to come away with a convincing win to send a signal to their European rivals and a 3-0 away win can be supported at odds as high as 14-1. Ryan Giggs looks a big price at 5-1 to score at any time in the match with William Hill.
Manchester City v Bayern Munich Live on Skysports HD2
Manchester City continue to brush aside their Premiership rivals with ease and go into this final game on the back of a 5-1 victory over Norwich at the weekend. However, their fate is no longer in their own hands as they need Villareal to upset Napoli in the other match as well as winning here to go through. It could be difficult for them to keep motivated if the other match starts to go against them and it may be worth taking the 3-1 freely on offer about a draw. A 1-1 scoreline is on offer at 7-1 with several firms.
