Chris Bjorin is an excellent poker player. He has won two WSOP bracelets and cashed-in hundreds of tournaments. He currently lives in London where he seemingly lives a pretty quiet low key life. However, on the felt, his play is rather ‘loud’ and speaks for itself. Currently Chir Björin (Björin is the correct spelling in his native language of Swedish) is the most accomplished Swedish tournament poker player. He is one of the more skilled players on the circuit having won eleven tournaments and cashing out in nearly 200 of them. Thus far, his winnings have totaled nearly $4 million. Bjorin is not a new player. With so many new and young faces seemingly popping up everyday, he is an elder sportsman of sorts. In fact, he has been cashing in tournaments longer than the sum of many people’s entire career.
Some of Chris Bjorin’s most notable wins includes a first place finish at the 28th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event 5 Pot Limit Omaha in 1997, where he won $169,200. He also was the winner of a United States Poker Championship, Event 13 Omaha Hi/Lo in 1999 winning nearly $30,000. On May 12, 2000 he came in first place at the 31st annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event 20, No Limit Hold’em tournament and won $334,110. In 2006, he was the victor of the Five Star World Classic WPT Championship Season 4, Seniors No Limit Hold’em event, winning $174,880.
He took home $152,445 on December 2006 after he finished in first place at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic WPT Event Season 5, Event 11 Seniors No Limit Hold’em tournament. Bjorin finished in sixth place and won over $100,000 at the 39th World Series of Poker 2008 Event Seven, No limit Hold’em. Very recently, on September 26, 2009, his sixth place finish at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe Event 4 No Limit Hold’em WSOP Main Event made him $244,735 richer. As one can see, Chris Bjorin has performed very well, garnering big wins and lots of attention along the way. However, Bjorin hasn’t publicly bought into all of the hype. By all accounts, he is quiet and focused, not at all a showman.
Chris Bjorin has been a relevant name in poker for some time. He continues what many would consider a pretty storied career, cashing in and winning big tournaments and also lesser known ones. His two WSOP bracelets automatically qualify him as one of the best in the game. Winning such prestigious events always makes people pause and take notice. Owning this piece of hardware gives credence to a person’s career. Not one to rest on his laurels, Bjorin’s recent high finishes (note his sixth place finish at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe Event 4 No Limit Hold’em WSOP Main Event) is evidence that he continues to be a force to be reckoned with on the felt, even in the face of newer and younger competition.
