Compared to how popular PLO poker is quickly becoming the tips that you can find on the internet and from poker books to it are certainly lacking behind. And one final note about the tips, we are assuming that you already have at least some experience wit the PLO games before reading this article and preferably are at worst marginally losing player. So we are assuming that you have at least decent idea about starting hand selection etc.
15 tips for low and mid stakes 6 max PLO poker games:
1: In No Limit texas holdem position is important, in pot limit Omaha it is vital.
2: Don’t bother playing unless you can expect to win over the long term in the table that you are playing in.
3: When you lose your confidence do everything you can to get it back. In pot limit Omaha you are forced to do lot of creative plays and big bluffs as well as big calls, if you lose your confidence it is hard to pull of these type of plays and you might turn into way too passive and predictable player to be a winning player in PLO.
4: Be Phil Ivey when you get bad beated. Ok this tip might sound a bit first at first, but the idea behind is that if there is one poker player who doesn’t let bad beats effect it is Phil Ivey, so simply keep in mind that if the world best poker player doesn’t let bad beats get to him you shouldn’t let them to get under your skin either.
5: If you play to win, never allow yourself to go broke.
6: Think in terms of hand ranges rather than in terms of single hands.
7: Don’t be afraid of taking shots when you find really good games, but never allow yourself to lose more than 10% of your bankroll when taking a shot.
8: Take advantage of your opponents betting patterns. For an example you might find out that some people never have anything good when they just call the flop from out of position, so you should naturally continue betting on turn with bluff if they are the type of players that let their hands go easily.
9: Watch out for your own betting patterns. Naturally on the other hand you want to avoid having betting patterns that your alert opponents can take advantage of.
10: Keep good notes of your opponents. Most of the people who play online poker won’t bother keeping any type of notes about their players, so simply by keeping notes about your opponents your will get ahead of many of your opponents.
11: Don’t insult your opponents and call them names. If not for any other reason than the fact that most of the time if you call someone a “fish” or a “donkey” they will start playing better against you.
12: Steal ideas and strategies from your opponents. If you notice that someone played a hand in particularly nice way don’t be afraid of adding that move to your own game.
13: Only play with a VIP bonus deal / rakeback deal.
14: You might be able to increase your hourly win rate by playing more games. For an example you might be currently playing only one table at a time and earning on average $20/hour by doing, if you added 3 more tables (so that you are playing 4 games at the same time) your hourly rate per table might drop to $10, but as you are now playing 4 games you would actually be earning $40 per hour – twice what you earned by playing one table.
15: Remember that no matter how good you are playing, everyone loses sometimes and most of the time people most of the time.
