The dealer will then deal the cards, starting with the player immediately to his or her left. They will also deal to a hand to themselves, along with an extra one. This hand does not belong to an actual player. It is referred to as a dummy hand.

The dummy hand can be secured by the dealer if his or her hand does not have any bonus cards. If the dealer does not want the hand, they can sell it to the highest bidder. However, the same restrictions apply. Only those players without any bonus cards can bid. The monies received from selling the dummy hand, if the dealer chooses to sell it, will be kept by him or her. Whether or not the dealer takes the dummy hand or it is sold, the person’s who takes possession of it will discard their original hand.

Play begins with the player seated to the left of the dealer. They are only allowed to play the lowest ranked cad from whatever suit they choose. The player at the table who has the next highest card in that same suit then plays. This continues until no one is eligible to play. When this occurs, the person who played the last card starts the next series by playing the lowest card in the suit of their choice. There is one caveat. It must be from the opposite color of the prior sequence. For example, if the previous one was red, the following sequence must be black. A sequence can also be stopped by the card played from the person with the dummy hand or an Ace. If the player cannot start a sequence according to these guidelines, the individual seated to their left takes their turn.

The aim of the game is to discard all of the cards in ones hand. The person able to do that gets to collect all of the chips in the jackpot compartment. Other players eligible for chips include those players that have the best poker hand and the first player to leave the game. The former will win the chips from the poker pool compartment. The latter, the first person to go out, receives one chip from every player based on the number of cards in their hand.

There are other ways to earn chips and also lose them.
