PokerStars Introduces Mobile Version in the UK

PokerStars, the biggest online poker site in the world, recently announced it has launched a mobile version of its site in Great Britain. This enables players across the UK to play their favourite online poker games while they’re on the go. In addition, there are multi-table opportunities as well as many other special features.

The mobile version will be supported by many types of mobile phones as well as iPads, iPod Touches, iPhones and all Android wireless devices. However, the mobile platform isn’t available to players in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. The rest of Britain will be able to play for real money from anywhere they can pick up a phone signal though.

PokerStars released a press statement concerning the mobile release and Jeffrey Haas, the director of New Platforms, said that the new platform isn’t just a mobile version of the current PokerStars products; it has been specifically designed to work well with tablet and mobile devices. He added that it’s the most authentic experience on the market when it comes to playing poker games on mobile devices.

PokerStars introduced a mobile platform in Italy last year which was well received by players of that European nation. The company figured it would also go over gangbusters in the UK because poker is very popular there and there are many different types of mobile devices in use. PokerStars stated that 43 per cent of British mobile phone users have smartphones. They estimated that there are close to 25.5 million smartphones in use in Britain along with about 800,000 tablet PC connections. It’s also believed those numbers will rise this year.

PokerStars said that 10 per cent of their players in Italy use the mobile platform when playing poker. When logging on, they find Omaha and Hold’em games and can play for real money. Mobile players can get seated quickly use the multi-tabling feature and can search quickly for other players. Mobile customers on the Pokerstars network are also connected to the sites large player pool making it easy to find a game they like.

There isn’t a cashier on the site’s mobile platform, which means that all financial transactions will have to be done via a computer. Also, PokerStars Home Games can’t be accessed by smartphone, but those with an iPod touch, iPhone, or an Android device can access up to four poker tables at the same time.
