Usually the online high stakes poker tables are filled with the regulars who play them day in and day out, however from time to time these games also get some new blood. This is what happened today at the iPoker poker network when player known as OscarWao decided to test his poker skills and luck in the huge $200/$400 1-on-1 no limit texas holdem table. And apparently this wasn’t exciting enough for him so he decided to also play $50/$100 no limit texas holdem headsup table at the same time.
In the $200/$400 table OscarWao went head to head against one of the iPoker network regulars: WaaBAM (who btw has an interesting location listed at the poker room for a high stakes poker player as his home place: CardBoard box).
WaaBAM is a player who has been playing the $25/$50 and bigger no limit games at iPoker for over a year so it was certain that OscarWao was going to have to bring his best game to beat him. Possible because WaaBAM has so much more experience in the huge games Oscar decided to use the minimum buyin strategy against him. Meaning that he bought in only for the minimum buyin: $8,000 to the table. When you are playing with only 20 big blind in front of you it means you will have to go all in liberally or the blinds will eat your stack, and this is exactly what Oscar did. Oscar lost the first all in and had to rebuy in for additional $8,000 shortly after doing it WaaBam decided to bluff on river with completely air against OscarWao’s flush and so Oscar doubled up with his second buy in. Shortly after that the game broke up. However the following chat that happened at the table suggest that there might more action coming in the future between these two:
| WaaBAM:
rtying to make new table |
| OscarWao:
we cant unless u play deeper |
| WaaBAM:
theree we go |
Unlike in the $200/$400 table in the $50/$100 game mr Wao was playing using the full buy in stack. In the $50/$100 no limit game his opponent was a famous South-African poker pro known online as Piejay1. Piejay1 has been playing online poker at least 5 years and used to be a regular sight for an example at the Ultimatebet poker room. However lately he seems to have focused on playing at the iPoker network against the loose European poker players. Unfortunately for Piejay1 the luck wasn’t on his side today and after losing couple buyins he decided to call it a day and leave the table when OscarWao had a $32,000 stack against his $10,000 stack.
Based on what we witnessed OscarWao will certainly be an interesting addition to the roster of the high stakes iPoker players and he might very well try to do a huge run like Blom90 (he is believed to have played $2,000 up to $1.4million in just couple weeks) did earlier this year.
