5 Tips to Texas Holdem poker:
- Play slightly more than the number of other players in the table of your hands. This is a very general rule of thumb, but for an example if you have 9 players besides you in your table you should play little more than 1/9 of your hands. And if you have 6 other players in your table you should play little more than 1/5 of your hands.
- Play your good hands aggressively. Your goal in poker should be to win the maximum amount of money with your winning hands and lose the smallest possible amount of money with your losing hands. Especially the hands with which you easily hit top pair decent kicker type hands can get you in lot of trouble after the flop. - If you are serious about texas holdem poker always have at least 25 buyins in your bankroll. So if you are playing game which has a $20 maximum buyin you should always have a $500 bankroll. This is because even the best players are from time to time going to hit the bad runs and lose multiple buyins even if they get it all in every time with the best hand.
- Study your poker hands and try to spot leaks (such as often putting in too much money in to the pot with second pair type hands or always bluffing in the same way which your opponents can read easily) in your game. - If you have never played omaha poker play for very small stakes or play money before jumping in to bigger action. Even if you have played texas holdem poker before and might have the bankroll for bigger games you will soon find out that the hand values (which type of hands tend to win) are very different in omaha poker and thus you should start out slow so you don’t lose too much money while learning the game.
