Rolf Slotboom poker player and poker writer

Rolf Slotboom, a poker player and a poker writer, comes from Netherlands, but aside from gambling and writing, he also works as a commentator of Eurosport’s poker broadcasts. His experience and skills in the game of poker have made him a very formidable foe on the felt table.

Background History

Rolf Slotboom was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 1973. He went to college in the University of Amsterdam where he took up Politics and Communication Science. His interest in poker led him to work as a dealer in various poker casinos in Vienna and Amsterdam. It was in 1998 that he started to take gambling seriously and decided to pursue his career as a professional gambler.

The Poker Player

As stated above, 1998 was the turning point of his life and career when he focused on winning at cash card games. He first started out with low limit games of Hold’Em before he progressed to middle limit. As he developed his skills and strategies, he moved up to the high limits Omaha Hold’Em card games, which he ultimately became famous for.

Slotboom participated in major poker tournaments, preferably the Omaha Hold’Em. In November 2007, he won first place in the Caribbean Poker Clasic Super Satellite No Limit Hold’Em. But as to other major poker series, he has yet to win the title, but he came close, having landed second place at the Poker Royale Masters Main Event where he played No Limit Hold’Em in 2007. Slotboom came in third at the 2007 Summer Classics No Limit Hold’Em and came in fifth at the 2006 Master Classics of Poker Main Event No Limit Hold’Em.

All in all, he has close to half a million dollars in earnings from playing card games.

The Poker Writer

Slotboom is a regular columnist in one of the most prestigious magazines in the poker world, the Poker Digest, where he shares his knowledge and strategies in Hold’Em games. He has also written an interview series called Pocket Aces. Aside from this, Slotboom also writes articles for a variety of websites related to the game, some of which are PokerPages and Poker Network.

Other literary works done by Slotboom includes books on Hold’Em and Pot-Limit Omaha, and these books were published in 2006. He also provides DVDs on cash game strategies for advanced players.

Rolf Slotboom currently teaches poker games and strategies in an online poker school.
