Tips for playing your best poker at all times

Majority of the people who play poker regularly would be winning players if they were able to play their best poker (also known as the A-game) all the time, however it is very rare to find people who are actually able to do that. In fact lots of people actually play most of time their B or even C-game.

From below you can find 15 tips that should you to play your best poker more often.

Tips for playing your A-game poker more often:

1: Workout regularly. Many top poker pros (for an example Patrik Antonius) constantly talk about how important it is to workout regularly so that you can stay more focused during the poker sessions, so there certainly must be something in this advice.

2: Don’t play drunk. As good idea as it might feel to play drunk you will most likely end up regretting it the following morning. Unfortunately majority of us are not Scotty Nguyen’s who can play good poker after 6 beers.

3: Don’t play in hangover. As you might know the brain usually doesn’t work as good hangover as it does normally, so that should be enough reason to avoid playing poker when you are hangover.

4: Drink water.

5: Don’t play when you are tired. It should be obvious, but when you are tired you are not thinking as clearly as you should in order to make the best possible decision in all the situations

6: Don’t play just after waking up. From personal experience I can tell that playing just after waking up is almost as bad idea as the idea of playing poker tired.

7: Sleep enough.

8: Stop the moment you start feeling even slight bit tilted. It is very unlikely that your tilt-levels will reduce by playing, instead you will just continue getting more and more tilted and thus most of the time the best idea is to be done for the session the moment you start to get even little bit angry.

9: Playing multiple tables at the same time might be a good idea, but don’t go overboard. Top online poker players such as Tom Dwan appear to be able to play more than 10 times at the same time and keep playing good poker, unfortunately majority of us are no Tom Dwans.

10: Try not to hate other poker players (unless it makes you play way better). At least I’m certainly guilty of hating the people who take way too much time before every decision, and I have found out that usually when I start to hate those people I want to prove them something and try to do foolish bluffs and moves against them – which end up costing money to me. So unless hating your opponents makes your play better poker try to avoid playing against the people who annoy you, or develop some Buddha like skills.

11: Eliminate distractions when you are playing poker. Watching TV, chatting on MSN, reading emails all those and tons of others are the type of distractions you should avoid when you are playing poker in order to concentrate fully on the game and to make the best possible reads and plays in all the situations.

12: Avoid negative thinking. Usually when you go into the session with a mentality such as “oh god I know I’m going to lose money” you will do exactly that because you end up not playing as good poker as you could.

13: Don’t let random stuff effect you negatively. Just got bad beated? Someone else just busted the big fish who you were going after? You most likely could have done nothing about neither of those things so don’t let them effect you negatively.
