2009 Was a rough year at Full Tilt Poker for the young finish poker pro Sami Kelopuro who is probably better known for his famous online poker nickname LarsLuzak and at the end of the year it was more common to see him playing $25/$50 blind games than the $200/$400 blind games that he had in previous years been crushing.
In fact lot of people were already speculating that Sami Kelopuro might have gone broke. However according to himself he has been playing more (and doing better) at other online poker rooms than Full Tilt Poker. He hasn’t publicly told his nicks at other online poker rooms and thus this article is mostly just speculation, and it could very well be that someone else is playing under the nick name VodkaPuro at the iPoker online poker network just to give the impression that he is LarsLuzak (after all people thinking it is him would keep the best players from playing against him, allowing him to concentrate 100% on playing against the weaker players who have no clue about who he is supposed to be).
However the signs of VodkaPuro being Sami Kelopuro are certainly there. First of all the nick itself is quite interesting, Puro is the second part of LarsLuzak’s real name. And knowing how much Vodka people drink in the northern Europe it would make (I guess) perfect sense to add Vodka as first part of your nick.
Secondly the VodkaPuro player seems to focus entirely on playing high stakes no limit texas holdem headsup which is certainly the bread and butter game of Sami Kelopuro. And indeed the regulars (who most likely have a better idea about what is the real name of VodkaPuro) appear to be scared of playing against him. p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: “Times New Roman”; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }So the final verdict is that maybe VodkaPuro is indeed LarsLuzak, on the other hand maybe he isn’t, one thing is for sure though: it is interesting to watch him battle it out against the other high stakes poker players who have the guts to play for tens of thousands dollars per hand.
